LCSD Grad Gazette presents: Jaid Roberts, Future Deputy

Silver Springs, NV, June 6, 2019 – Jaid Roberts was born in Ogden, UT but has been in Silver Springs since she was a baby.  She was brought up through the Silver Stage Elementary, Middle and High Schools.  Linda Harrison, a staff member at Silver Stage Middle School describes Jaid, "She has overcome so much to become a well-spoken graduate. I had her as a middle school resource student.  She was so shy that I rarely heard her voice."  During her time in high school, Jaid was employed by the Red's Candies in Virginia City for three years before beginning her current job at the Red Dog restaurant in Virginia City.  In addition, Jaid has been a member of the Storey County Sheriff's Explorer program since its inception about a year ago.

"Jaid has been a member of the program for nearly two years and really has done an exceptional job.  Jaid is always motivated to participate and receive feedback from every deputy she works with. She will be an exceptional officer one day.  I am certain that she will do a fine job and I hope that the training and experience she gains and has gained in the program will benefit her as she pursues her goals," expresses Deputy Harry Schroeder.

Storey County Sheriff’s Explorer program takes on young adults to explore the roles of what their life would be as a deputy. Jaid plans on going through the academy when she turns 21 and will continue with her program at the Storey County Police Department.  Jaid also works as a caregiver at the Community Chest and will continue this as well.

Roberts was asked a few questions:

1) Describe your senior year in three words…

“Hard, stressful and exciting.  Hard and stressful because I really had to work hard to do well in my classes. Exciting because I am on to new things and really love the path I am on ”

2) Who is your favorite teacher?

"Mr. Seal (Mike Seal) because he helped with everything, not just the school stuff."

3) If you could suggest one mandatory course for future seniors what would it be?

"Home Ec because I need to learn how to cook."

4) If you could change one school rule, what would it be?

"I would allow us to nap during the day" (suggested one of the egg-shaped nap pods)

5) “I will always remember…

The staff here in Silver Springs because they constantly pushed me to graduation"

6) “In 10 years…

I will be a deputy with a few years under my belt."

Congratuations, Jaid!  LCSD cannot wait to see what you do.  Stay tuned for more student highlights in our LCSD Grad Gazette!
