YHS Students Make a Difference with Their Blood Donation! ♥

Yerington High School's NHS (National Honor Society) and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) hosted a blood drive on September 27th.  Overall, they had 46 individuals step up to donate and were able to have 35 successful donations, which collected 49 units of blood. This blood will be used to save up to 147  lives!

So far, it has been used to help the following individuals:

18 year old female - Cancer
12 year old male - Cancer
Newborn female - Heart Condition
Newborn male - Neonatal Transfusion
57 year old male - Trauma
22 year old male - Blood Disorder

Fernley Intermediate students fulfill pledge to Veterans Guest House Representatives By David Perry, Fernley Intermediate School Teacher Fernley Intermediate School Falcon Leadership students present a check fulfilling a pledge to raise $1000 to Veterans Guest House representatives. Fernley Intermediate School Falcon Leadership and Veterans Guest House staff. Fernley, NV, February 28, 2019 –  The Fernley Intermediate School (FIS) Falcon Leadership students presented a $570 check to representatives of Veterans Guest House fulfilling their pledge to raise $1000 for the organization.  In October of 2018, this group of 5 th  and 6 th  grade leadership students met and determined that with the help of the entire FIS student body and staff, they could raise $1000 to support veterans.  The students chose Veterans Guest House because they were impressed with their mission of providing housing to veterans and their families who are seeking medical treatment in the Reno-Spark
