SSMS Summer Adventures!

Silver Stage Middle School has had a very busy summer!

Staff were able to attend the Edible School Yard Conference in Berkeley, CA where the goal of the program is to "train educators and advocates from all over the world to create powerful edible education programs in their schools and communities." The participants experience "first-hand the core principles and practical tools for engaging students in academics, social and emotional learning, and justice in the kitchen, garden, and lunchroom."

Staff was also able to attend the NNSTOY (National Network of State Teachers of the Year) conference.  All staff who were in attendance raved about how wonderful and engaging their experience was. Rachel Leach describes it as one of the top 3 conferences I’ve attended in her entire career.  If you have a moment check out the #GrowonthegoPD for Igniting a Radical Imagination!

Also, students from SSMS were also very active this summer!  Many students were able to participate with Urban Roots camp, once again.  They hosted a Young Farmer's Market with their help.

And... they gathered their platters that they will be using at their family style dining during lunch time!
