Junior Authors at FES


Kelly Malloy's 4th graders at Fernley Elementary School published their book, The Day There Was No Sub through Student Treasures Publishing.  It is a compilation of short stories revolving around a day when no sub arrives based on the novel Flying Solo that they read aloud.

Dayton Intermediate Theater Returns!

Dayton Intermediate School Theater is back in session! The students performed a few plays in late January via Facebook Live for all of their fans to see and enjoy.  The plays performed were "Once Upon a Zoom" by Edith Weiss and "The Boy Who Cried Werewolf" by Daniel Guyton. Even with all the obstacles and adjustments that needed to be made, the students did a fantastic job! Way to go DIS Theater!  The DIS Theatre class is led by National Board Certified Teacher Lindsay Etter! Please help us welcome Dayton's School Resource Officer, Deputy Stout!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Dayton, NV September 29,2017 Dayton welcomes a School Resource Officer (SRO) to its community for the 2017-18 school year. What is a SRO?  The SRO is a deputy of the Lyon County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) whose primary job responsibility is within the school community.  The goal of this position, which is attained through a partnership with LCSO, is to foster positive relationships with students through close contact.  Although, the SRO position is new to Dayton and Fernley schools, the position is in its second year in the Silver Springs schools and has seen a very positive impact. Today, we zero in and would like to introduce you to Deputy Robert Stout.  Deputy Stout joins the Dayton schools - Riverview, Sutro and Dayton Elementary Schools, Dayton Intermediate School and Dayton High School - for the pilot year of the SRO in Dayton.
